PCC News – 19th September Meeting

Important: Membership fees are now due and anyone who hasn’t paid by 26th September will be assumed to have resigned.

We had a super presentation last night from our Venice Team – or the “Gondola Girls” as Carole brilliantly named them – immaculately dressed in posh frocks, wigs, with matching accessories and the final must have .... A mask !!

The team consisted of Sue Bunt, Karen Burton, Claire Dougal and Jane Goldsworthy as pictured below (L to R) .

More from Paul Cooper:

Once again laughter rolled around the hall frequently throughout our main event last night as the Venice Girls enthralled the members with the images they took.

As can be seen, the ladies put an immense amount of time into their presentation, including wearing Venetian capes, costumes and masks. This clearly showed as one great picture rolled out after another, with titles, full background information on the place, the style of photography, or why the photographer included that image.

Images were intermingled so different ladies were talking almost with every image heightening the review as four very different minds brought the trip to life for us. The ladies handled the friendly heckling well, which simply added to the enjoyment. Yes, wine was frequently in pictorial evidence together with a local orange/red glass of something probably potent. It was clear the trip was delightful.

During the break members were able to browse the various books, maps and tourist info the ladies had brought with them and the second half concluded with a wide ranging review of the various masked and costumed individuals who were visiting during the Venice Carnival.

Our club is renowned for it’s friendly and relaxed atmosphere and this presentation hit that nail fair and square.

Prints for our first major season's competition, the President's Award were successfully dropped off under our new competition management system - far less paperwork, less time, and remarkably painless.

NB Pre-cut mounts are now available A4 with no backing board for £2 and A3 mounts WITH backing boards for £4. See Derek.

Club members enjoyed the final “Summer Outing” at the Trelowarren Arms in Budock Water last Sunday. Once more it was a super get together and a good opportunity particularly for new members to get to know some of the more regular ones a little better.

We have been asked by the local RBL if any of our members would be willing to help out with selling Poppies this year at Asda. It usually is a 2 hour slot and you are able to sit down by the door at Asda. It can be a bit chilly so you might want to wrap up.

You do not need to “sell” poppies, as it is not allowed to rattle the bucket, like the old days! People just come to the table and make their purchase with cash or there is a card reader which is easy to use. It is fantastic how generous people are.

Please let me know if you think you may be able to help RBL out this year.
