PCC AWARDS PRESENTATION – 25th June – Karen Burton

Club members met at the Falmouth Golf Club in plenty of time to set up the numerous awards and fabulous raffle prizes. Firstly, a huge thank you to everyone who kindly donated prizes and thanks to Julie for selling the tickets and keeping tabs on it all.

PCC AWARDS PRESENTATION

I must at this point say a massive thank you to Mandy, who has been working non-stop to get all the awards collated and also for making the new certificates which were very smart in our Penryn colours red and black. We all appreciate the work that Mandy puts in behind the scenes and it is not an easy job for her to sort out. Mandy, you are a star.

Maru also did a great job of creating the new format Certificates and getting all the names and relevant awards correctly collated!

Thanks to Derek for creating the new 2924-2025 PCC Programme which inevitably went through several drafts to ensure all of the text and format was acceptable prior to taking the master copy to Booths the printers. It looks really great!

Derek also did an amazing job of taking photos on the day of the award winners and well done to Wendy and Lizzie stepping into take Derek’s photo!

The food was good albeit the service a bit on the slow side but we all enjoyed our meals. All in all it was a great afternoon especially for Mark and John who did so well winning lots of awards - Very well deserved may I add!

Geoffrey our President did a sterling job as usual presenting all the awards along with a special award to Layla our junior member who was joined by her Mum and sister to enjoy the event.

Wendy our lovely Chairperson had the tough job of choosing her Chairman’s Award again this year. So rightly deserved the award went to Paul Cooper who has been beavering behind the scenes to keep Penryn Camera Club the successful and happy club we know and love.

We do hope you like the new format of the awards and well done to everyone who achieved awards this year and to all members for supporting our club to grow stronger and be the friendliest club that we are well known for.

Stithians -Bird Hides 22nd June

It was a pleasant morning for a bit of twitching at the hides over by Stithians Lake. Thank you Mandy for brilliant instructions they were a great help! It was a good turnout today and it was a great opportunity to use my Nikon 200 to 500 lens which I don’t take out as much as I should. I still had lens envy as Mark had his 600!

We saw a Cormorant in the distance. Some were lucky to catch a glimpse of a Heron flying past the hide into the bushes. We walked to the other Hide where there are bird feeders which attracted some blue tits, a coal tit, a chaffinch, robins, sparrows and of course the highlight for Lizzie and Carina was the rat! She came prepared and put some seed on the branches and feeders to entice the birds and rat more. Wendy and Julia were less impressed with the rat!

Wendy and Julia were less impressed with the rat!

Julie found the nest of young blue tits nesting in the corner of the hide, which was very quiet mostly, but they ventured out so I managed to get a couple of snaps.

A lovely morning spent together with our cameras and I must say it really doesn’t matter where we go we always have a laugh and enjoy each others company. If we get good images well that is always a bonus!
