Photography has been my love since I claimed the family Kodak camera at the age of 14. I did my first Photography course at Paddington College in the 80s in Scientific & Technical Photography when I worked as a Scientific Photographer with the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine...taking photos of everything from experiments, patients with Tropical diseases and Royal visits.
I had a wonderful darkroom and B&W photography was my favourite thing. Have never succeeded in getting the tonal range in my digital processing that I used to achieve in those days of film but that is probably down to my limited photo processing experience.....must try harder!
I work full-time so resist sitting at a computer editing images when I can be down the beach or sea swimming so I might have to wait until I have retired to improve those skills.
Joined my first Camera Club back in Olney, Buckinghamshire when I got my Canon 5D, before moving to Cornwall 3 years ago. I would have said that Macro photography was my favourite genre but since coming to this beautiful landscape we are lucky enough to call home, I think I do a bit of everything.
Have just brought my first mirrorless camera Canon R6 MkII and with so many menu options it feels like I am learning photography all over again but I love coming to Penryn Camera Club to be inspired by other members images and learning from their knowledge and all their tips.
